2018/19 Events

Christmas In The City 2018 at Nottm Albert Hall - 4th Dec 2018, 7pm

Our pupils in the KS2 choir & Area Band thoroughly enjoyed performing at the Nottingham music hub's celebration called Christmas In The City. They watched solo & group performances and were inspired to keep singing and playing their instruments. This sell out event was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

See a sample of photos below from the evening, we are very proud of them all!

Seely Swimathon 2019:

On Saturday 2nd March, Seely Swimmers took part in the annual Sherwood Rotary Club Swimathon.

17 children and 3 adults swam their hearts out to raise money for the development of the KS2 outdoor learning areas.

They raised £716.97 so CONGRATULATIONS to them, and a MASSIVE Thank you to all who donated.

The Chair of the Rotary Club (also an ex-Seely pupil) donated £100 so an extra special thank you to him!

Tree Planting in the Memories Garden 2019:

Clifton Community Garden provided school with 2 Apple Trees to plant in our Memories Garden.

4 of the children who were good friends with a Year 1 pupil we lost very sadly last year, paid tribute to her by planting the trees in her memory on 4th March.

Friends of Seely are working hard to hopefully complete the Memories Garden before the end of the summer term so that our children and families can use it as a space for reflection and as a sensory area.

Metal workshops

Local artist & designer Alys Power provided a series of free workshops for Y5 to produce some metal bangles. This linked to their topic on Ancient Greeks. Every child designed and made a bangle using metal stamping. They all enjoyed learning this new skill. These will be on display in their gallery for Sherwood Art Week in June 2019. We look forward to working with Alys again in the near future.

Night Light 2019

Another successful February Light Night!

We exhibited 12 pieces of artwork on the fence at the Robin Hood statue. The theme was SPACE so we called it ‘To Infinity & Beyond!’ These were transparent panels created by children from Foundation to Year 6. We used a range of materials including tissue, coloured cellophane, clear acetate and marker pens, glow in the dark paint, glitter and sequins. The LED flood lighting provided by the city council made it look amazing. Parents and the public enjoyed it. These panels will be on display again in our KS2 hall for Sherwood Art Week in June.

Click the link below for our Light Night video of the children's work. Thank you

World Book Day 2019:

Thursday 7th March was World Book Day!  This year our theme was bedtime stories so we all wore our pyjamas to school and participated in a story swap with the teachers.  We've also created some amazing designs for our classroom doors based on books we've loved to read.  Take a look below!

Family Litter Picking 2019:

On 18th March, a group of parent and children from Seely took to the streets around school on a litter picking mission.

Thank you to all who came - we are hoping to make this a termly event and grow our litter picking groups across the year.
