Rights Respecting Schools Award

Seely Primary School currently holds the Rights Respecting Schools Bronze Award and we are working towards achieving the Silver award.

We understand that children all over the world should have the same rights and these are the rights outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. At Seely, we are committed to teaching the children about their rights and ensuring everyone plays their part in making children's rights real.

Our curriculum, assemblies, personal development and pupil leadership groups focus on developing these rights and making them at the forefront of everything we do at Seely.

Whilst the children are taught about all rights, we focus particularly on the following:

Right 2: No discrimination

Right 3: Best interests of the child

Right 6: Life, survival and development

Right 8: Identity

Right 12: Respect for children's views

Right 13: Sharing thoughts freely

Right 14: Freedom of thought and religion

Right 15: Setting up and joining groups

Right 17: Access to information

Right 19: Protection from violence

Right 22: Refugee children

Right 23: Children with disabilities
