Literacy
This week we have set revision work on some of the key skills you've learnt in year 5. These will cover different sentence types, fronted adverbials, linking paragraphs and how to add cohesion. Follow each PowerPoint for a brief overview and complete your selected activity.

Day 2 Relative Clause Activity
Science - Living Things
This is following on from your lesson last week and looking at the bread you left to observe. You must write a conclusion on what you found, try and leave the bread as long as possible for the more interesting results. After this you will be get to be creative with your own new microorganism.

This weeks SMSC activities are based on science activities. These are all fun activities you can try at home exploring a range of topics.
Numeracy
This week in numeracy you'll be revising find the perimeter and area of shapes. Then combining this knowledge with compound shapes towards the end of the week. Follow the PowerPoints each day to help remind you of how to work each part out before doing the activity. Remember my tip of using different colours for the different rectangles in your compound shapes.

Topic - Mayans
This weeks topic lesson is all about the Mayans and their number system. Have a go at cracking the code in their number system and trying to work out different calculations. Can you create your own number problems to send us?

Peer Mediator Applications
Peer Mediator Applications are still open. This is an excellent opportunity for you all and comes with great responsibility. Your role will be to sort out and prevent problems on the playground during breaks and lunchtimes, as well as supporting younger children who may be upset. Full training will be provided on how to deal with certain situations, so if you are interested please write an application letter addressed to Mrs Newton. You can apply to be a peer mediator by either emailing the year 5 address your application or posting directly to Mrs Newton at school. When applying think about the skills you have that would make you a fantastic peer mediator. Email the year 5 email address if you would like any help with writing your letter.
