Y5 weeks 3 & 4

Please don't forget to email us at year5@seely.nottingham.sch.uk if you have any questions or need any help. We would also love to see what you are up to or what you are doing so send us friendly messages too as we are missing you all.

Literacy

For the next couple of weeks we would like you to focus on the unit "Little Freak". It is a fantastic unit with great PSHE links about prejudice, appearance and self belief so offers great discussion links for you to talk about as a family. There is a PowerPoint document which will go through different daily tasks and leads to the end writing task for a persuasive letter.

Maths

For the next couple of weeks we would like you to cover angles and measurements, including doing a weekly arithmetic test like the week before. In a document below there is an overview for each day and what we would like you to cover, this has youtube links for tutorials and also links for learning games for each topic. Before starting the week if you struggling to remember properties of shapes and angle types from year 5 have a look at the prior learning document to help refresh your memory.

ICT

Scratch –

We were currently learning scratch programming and debugging. To continue this scratch is free to download online (https://scratch.mit.edu/download). Children can experiment in designing their own games.

Computer skills –

Practice typing (Dance mat typing on bbc bitesize is a fantastic resource for this), saving and using documents.

Life Skills

Please continue to develop the life skills table that was on the original letter we sent home before lockdown. We want to hear how you've helped your parents or learnt a new skill just as much as we want you to continue with your school work.

Below there is also a possible plan for daily extra curricular ideas, with links to some websites. Remember to make the most of the time to do things that you enjoy and relax you.
