Parent Council

Parents’ Council

Seely Primary & Nursery School’s Parents’ Council has been established since the Primary opened in September 2013. There are currently thirteen parents on the council who represent children in all year groups, from the nursery to year 6.

Parents’ Council have an official meeting once a term, where we discuss how we can work together to support the school and make things better. Our meetings are run by one of the Deputy Headteachers, Miss Richardson, and we now have a link governor who attends the meetings each term. The Parent Liaison Worker also plays a key role at these meetings, supporting parents with the ideas they have. We then have further times during the term when we get together to put our ideas into practice.

Most recently, the Parents’ Council have supported the school in the following ways:
·By discussing parents attendance at class assemblies and concerts –staff have worked hard to arrange more time for parents to come in and share the work that their children have been doing in school.
·Working with the School Council to collect litter from the school site and entrance to improve the environment of the school.
·Baking cakes with children on the School Council that were then sold to parents to raise money for more playground equipment.
·Developing payment plans for trips and visits so parents and carers could split the cost of paying throughout the year.
·Choosing a photography company to take the children’s individual and class photos.

If there are any parents who wish to speak to a member of Parents’ Council about ideas they have, please see Miss Richardson and she will let you have a list of parents you can speak to.

Thank you to the Parents’ Council who continue to work hard on behalf of the parents and carers and Seely Primary & Nursery School.
