Seely Newspaper

Seely Primary and Nursery school have a school newspaper, the Seely News, which publishes twice a term to keep pupils and parents up-to-date with events and news at school. Our newspaper team comprises of 38 of the school’s best writers from Foundation all the way to Year 6 who contribute to the paper. Our older children write their news reports independently and our younger children are supported by staff to get their ideas written into a report for the paper.

Our recent newspapers have covered stories on the following topics:

  • Trips
  • Class assemblies
  • After school clubs
  • Summer fair
  • The Football team
  • Staff news (people who are new, staff who have left and staff who have had babies)
  • Visitors we have had in to School
  •  Special assemblies
  • Projects that classes have been covering
  • Swimming

We have also run special features on big Seely news events such as Seely’s Grand Opening and end of year performances.

We try to make the newspaper a happy balance between keeping parents and children informed of what is going on in school and encouraging children to read. Each issue also includes jokes, puzzles, cartoons and a mystery teacher feature where the children are given clues and they have to guess who the teacher or teaching assistant is.

Our most recent newspapers are here for you to read, but if anyone has any ideas for stories for future issues, please see Miss Pantry or Miss Richardson. We hope you all enjoy reading the Seely News!
